Pharmacological and medicinal uses:


1. Anti-oxidant
The fruit contains major nutritional antioxidants, vitamin E, vitamin C and β-carotene that can prevent several chronics disorder. The extract showed powerful scavenging activity of hydroxy radicals and acted as a chelator of iron. The presence of mangiferin makes result in antioxidant activity. 

2. Prevent heart disease
It contains rich beta-carotene that helps fights free radical which cause heart disease

3. Anticancer
It contains mangiferolate and shambolic acid that exerts cytotoxic effects in pancreatic cancer cells. The antitumor in human colon adenocarcinoma also extracts from mango mesocarp. Mango kernel can result in oestrogen-negative breast tumour cell with the production of ROS that promotes apoptosis through Bax activation and cytochrome c release. 

4. Digestion
It contains an enzyme and also fibre that kept the digestive tract working efficiently. It contains rich fibre and water content that prevent constipation, promote regular bowel movement, and a healthy digestive tract. 

5. Lower cholesterol
Mango contains high levels of fibre pectin that bring down the low-density lipoprotein that causes plaques in the vessels and blocks blood flow.

6. Clears the skin
It contains vitamin C and vitamin A that function for healthy skin and skin repair. It reduces oil production in the skin.

  • Mango is an ancient fruit that can be dated as old as 4000 years.
  • Most of the mangoes ripen in summer.
  • Although their sizes, shapes, colour and sweetness vary, they all have a single flat, elliptical pit that does not easily separate from the pulp.
  • The green mangoes contain a higher amount of Vitamin C meanwhile when the fruit ripen and mature the amount of Vitamin A it contains increase.
  • Mango is the national fruit for 3 countries which are India, Philippines and Pakistan.
  • The oldest known mango tree is 300 years and still produces fruits.
