Scientific name: Ficus decided
Malay name: Mas Cotek, Telinga Beruk or Serapat Angin
Pharmacological uses:
1. Antidiabetic
Used to control blood sugar levels by enhancing basal and insulin-stimulated glucose into a liver cell line. The leaves of ficus deltoidea control postprandial hyperglycemia by presence α-glucoside and α-amylase inhibitory effects.
2. Anti-inflammatory and antinociceptive activity
The leaves have anti-inflammatory effects against a various inflammatory response that can relieve pain that reduces inflammation. The leaves also treat painful conditions such as headache and toothache that result from an antinociceptive activity.
3. Antimelanogenic and antiphotoaging effect
The melanogenesis biosynthesis for melanin production is reduced that give antimelanogenic effects. The F.deltoidea extract induced skin damage and used in antiphotoaging cosmetic products.
4. Antiulcerogenic activity
The extract protects against ulcer by reducing ulcer areas, inhibition of submucosal oedema and reduced leukocyte infiltration.
5. Antibacterial activity
Helicobacter pylori that an agent of chronic gastritis and gastric ulcer can be prevented by F. deltodea leaf extract. Methanol F. deltoidea exhibited antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeurigonosa.
6. Anticancer
Contains anticancer against human ovarian carcinoma cell line.
