Medical uses:
Leaves:
Used as an anthelmintic (to destroy parasitic worms), cholagogue (promotes the flow of bile from the gall bladder into the duodenum), to treat hiccough and constipation
Fruit:
Used as a digestive, diuretic, laxative (relieve constipation by loosening stools or inducing a bowel movement), diaphoretic (reducing the temperature inside the body) and antiscorbutic (preventing or curing scurvy)
Green fruit:
Used as an abortifacient (agents that induces abortion), anthelmintic (to destroy parasitic worms), emmenagogue (promotes the menstrual discharge) and styptic (promotes healing and stop bleeding on minor cuts or manicure nicks)

- Christopher Columbus in 1493 found pineapple on Guadeloupe Island in Carrabian.
