Pharmacological uses:
1. Controls blood sugar levels
- Pandan leaf is an antihyperglycemic and is effective in decreasing postprandial blood sugar. It also contains substances such as tocopherols, tocotrienols, and alkaloid fatty acids which are a natural antioxidant and antidiabetic agents.
2. Alleviates gout
- Pandan leaf can reduce uric acid levels in the body, which can also reduce gout symptoms. Besides, drinking pandan leaf tea is known to remove kidney stones from the body.
3. Skin and hair health
- Pandan leaf helps nourish hair and alleviates dandruff. With constant usage, it can also restore the lustre on dull hair.
4. Relieves insomnia
- Pandan leaves contain alkaloid compound which can calm a human body from stress. Consuming pandan leaves tea added with a teaspoon of honey will helps a body to have better sleep.
